About Us

I grew up in a home that was built in a home building cooperative in the 1950’s. In this cooperative initiative approximately 80 people starting families built their houses together. We grew up with a sense of community because all the parents of the building cooperative made a mutual commitment to each other, and had a journey together in the building process, and invested in one another.

It is my hope to foster a sense of community with the children who come to sing together in Shine On Singers. They will learn from one another, and support one another. They will develop a rapport with other children/youth who might not have been friends before because of differences, and will discover a new level of commonality.
